I’m a visual artist, farmer and cultural manager.
I observe and edit subtracting images that already exist, forgotten archives that revive, pasts that are renewed, updated and survive. I dedicate my artistic practice to the research on «cinematic montage» and its relation with the writing of history, the ability it has to establish elements of reality. For fifteen years I have been building a multimedia practice addressing various projects from video, analog film media, sound files, photography and urban intervention. I am co-director of the Cocuyo Art Residence, a project founded in partnership with the Brazilian artist Ana Tomimori. It’s located in an agroforestry coffee farm in the municipality of Cachipay, Cundinamarca, Colombia. In the coffee plantation I learn about agriculture, I update a family history linking my artistic practice with elements that represents the link with the land and culture.
Soy artista visual, agricultor y gestor cultural. Observo y edito, sustraigo imágenes ya existentes, archivos olvidados que reviven, pasados que se renuevan, se actualizan, sobreviven. Dedico mi práctica artística a la investigación del “montaje cinematográfico” y su relación con el montaje de la historia, su escritura y capacidad de establecer elementos de realidad. Desde hace quince años construyo una práctica multimedia abordando diversos proyectos desde el video, soportes análogos cinematográficos, archivos sonoros, fotografía e intervención urbana.
Soy co-director de la Residencia Artística Cocuyo, proyecto fundado en conjunto con la artista brasileña Ana Tomimori, en una finca cafetera agroforestal en el municipio de Cachipay, Cundinamarca. En los cafetales aprendo de agricultura, actualizo una historia familiar, relaciono mi práctica artística con elementos que representan el vinculo con la tierra y la cultura.
